In today's data-driven world, it is becoming increasingly important for Travel Management Companies (TMCs) to invest in analytics to help them keep abreast of the latest market trends.

This has been highlighted by a new report from the Association of Corporate Travel Executives (ACTE) and American Express Global Business Travel, which has underlined the key role that internal and external data analysis can play in delivering services that are tailored to the needs of the modern business traveller.

According to their Managing the Modern Business Traveller survey, 90 per cent of travel managers are now using TMC travel and spend data to gain a better understanding of the stated and unstated needs of travellers, while 76 per cent are leveraging data from card payment providers.

Meanwhile, 66 per cent are making use of internal systems and TMC analysis, with 60 per cent saying they assess internal policy compliance data. This shows that considering data from a wide range of sources can provide TMCs with a clearer picture of how the expectations of end users are evolving.

However, Greeley Koch - executive director at the ACTE-  observed that the way in which this information is used is more important than how it is collated.

He explained: "It's not enough to gather the data; managers must actually analyse it and translate it into action. A successful, data-driven travel programme can achieve any corporate travel executive's core objectives: positioning their travellers for success, while also demonstrating the travel manager's value as a business leader."

Given that successful travel programmes have been shown to serve as effective tools for attracting and retaining talent, and for driving employee happiness and productivity, it is likely that data analysis of this kind will be a key focus for many businesses in future.

By automating and updating mid and back-office systems, TMCs can simplify this crucial analytical process. Contact ProCon Solution now to find out how ProTAS can help.
